Happy 2012!

by Elijah Nicolas on Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Last year, around this same time, I posted some line items of what I wanted to accomplish in 2011.  The biggest accomplishment was running the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and finishing.  I also finished the Miami Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon this past December! (but I still have yet to blog about that one)  I hit a PR for the 10K and actually a “life” goal of running one in under an hour at the 2011 Great Cow Harbor Race!.  Once again, I didn’t properly train for either runs, so that also led to me just signing up for the sprint distance in the San Diego Tri-Rock.  Unfortunately, cycling was almost absent in 2011 and blogging was getting tiresome.  I’m still having a hard time differentiating elijahnicolas.com and adellelijah.com and it’s slowly getting there…I think.  I did begin eating “healthier and less” but at the start of the holidays, I tanked.  I’m now officially the heaviest I’ve ever been.  Yes, I still fit into all my clothes but I’m not the lean 165 lbs. I will be.

So, bottom line, I’m going to lose 25 lbs by year-end.  Shoot, I want a summer beach body darnit!  I’m also running the 2012 San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Ful Marathon again with a simple goal of 4:30 and WILL train for that bad boy.  Here’s to 2012!!!

Good luck with losing the weight.  A 4:30 marathon goal is INTENSE….I will be VERY impressed if you can do it.  My goal is to run one this year….most likely will be closer to 5:30 though.

I am currently juice fasting for 60 days while increasing my exercise regiment…..and so far it is going really well.  I haven’t eaten any food in 11 days now and have been increasing the amount I exercise.

    Good luck with your goals

I wish I can “juice” fast or “apple” fast but I’m a little hesitant while working too ya know? You’re not fatiguing or anything? What kind of workouts are you doing and are you losing weight? I was thinking of a cleanse, but once again, I’d have to be off of work for a long period maybe. If I blog a lot and just listen to trance and whatever else, I can see myself “fasting” =)

I would strongly encourage you to check out two movies….the first is forks over knives, and is about the importance of fruit / vegetables in our diet, and about reducing animal proteins.  It deals a lot with the causes of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, diabetes, weak joints, multiple sclerosis, etc.  Watching it is VERY worthwhile, and if you don’t want to change you eating habits after seeing it, you weren’t paying attention.

Movie 2 is Fast, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  It is about an Australian with huge weight and medical problems who gets everything under control via juice fasting and can come off his meds.  It also follows the story of a morbidly obese trucker who similarly turns his life around.  The first half is a bit slow and mostly show how bad most people’s diets are, and why they don’t change.  The second half is much better, and worth waiting for.

If you do watch these 2 films, let me know what you think, and if you decide to make any changes / try any of this stuff
