The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey *New Trailer*

I know that the last few posts have been Apple / iPhone 5 overload, but until mine arrives on Friday, here's a little more excitement coming your way! Check out the latest trailer from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey slated for a December 14, 2012 release!.

Twlight

So I finaly gave in and decided to watch "Twilight". Granted I was riding onboard Delta's first class and had the complimentary option so I figured might as well get acquainted with what everyone has been talking about. I have to admit that it was a little slow, and that the colors of the movie where a little too dreary for me, but overall, the story was alright. It isn't something that I'll be diving into, but different is a good thing. A great piano piece on Edwards' CD Player proved to be inspirational. I might just have to pick it up, learn it and play it. I also liked the theme song that he was playing on the piano, so maybe that too!

I can't say that I'm too enthralled by the whole vampire thing. If you know me, I'm not all into that genre of horror, scariness, thriller type; not that this follows that lineage, but it's okay. Of course, now that I've seen the first, there are so many unanswered questions that I want to follow up on so maybe I might just have to indulge a bit.

Two Weeks

It's been about two weeks since my last post and that's due to the overwhelming amount of studying that I've been having to do for my proficiency check.  Of course that went well as I'm still flying happily on the line.  I also went back to San Diego to hang out with Adelle where we watched Jumper and Definitely, Maybe.

I liked them both as Jumper was a different kind of theory that I really haven't been exposed and found the concept interesting.  They definitely left it open for a sequel which I may or may not see.  Definitely, Maybe was just an all around feel good movie but it's not something that you can go watch over and over again.  It was a little too predictable but still romantic.

I'm back in Atlanta for 4 days of 8-hour a day class work that's called Recurrent Ground Training.  Both the PC and RGT happens once a year at most airlines and its my turn!  It's kind of crazy as it all puts it in perspective that we are really celebrating our one year anniversary here in Atlanta.

There are quite a bit of merger rumors lately and we have no idea how its going to affect anyone, but I just hope that people come out of both sides with smiles and hope.  It's such a negative industry that anything can just trigger a mud slide of emotion and disgruntle-ness.  Oh well...

I haven't been able to write lately either for PhoneNews.com due to the fact that my hotels that I've been staying in are charging for Internet service!  It's an outrage!  I thought that it would be easy to write more articles this year, but its only getting harder as my work times are more sporadic and just with all these qualifying events happening, it doesn't look good.  Let's see what kind of news I can dig up.  There's been a lot for sure like all the unlimited plans that all the main carriers have released!  It's about time a price war starts in the mobile phone industry.

Snowing in Atlanta!!!

After a really long day of flying and losing $200 on craps last night in Harrahs' Omaha, I came back to the crashpad and it started snowing!!!  Check out the pix.  All this snow fell within 1 hour of each other.Photo_011608_008Photo_011608_005

Okay, so it might not have been that much snow but it's the most that I have seen ever falling at once. It was so nice and calming. I just wish that my girlfriend was here to enjoy the moment with me.

I also ended up heading out to a local bar called Bonz in off of Fairburn Road.  They had an awesome Triple Play Hamburger which was basically three different kinds of melted cheeses.  It was tremendous.  I'm probably staying here in Atlanta this weekend to rest and clean up all the stuff that I moved back from Daytona.

Justin just told me about the Sundance Film Festival this weekend in Salt Lake so I might just hit that up.  Sounds like fun!

Quick Trip

Another trip to San Diego and back again. I got in Monday night and left on Wednesday morning. Tuesday included a trip to the bi-weekly haircut at the PQ Barber Shop followed by some PQ Donuts. Adelle and I then met up with my parents at Pat and Oscar's where we hung out for quite a while. Prior to heading to Pat and Oscar's, Adelle and I went to Edward's Cinemas thinking that we were going to watch Transformers or something else new but of course being that Harry Potter was playing that night at midnight, I thought that we might as well indulge in the mania. The line was long outside with full of people camping out in tents, sun bathing and it was just kind of nutty. It almost seemed as if it was even more of a hype than Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings. We went up to the ticket counter and to my surprise they were sold out for the four 11:59PM showings and the 3:15AM showings in the IMAX theater. Of course, we hung out for a bit and found out that there was a 6:15AM showing so of course after all the hype, we thought that it would be fun anyways to watch it then. The movie was sold out and when we finished, the line for the next film was long and the rest of the showings for today were sold out! It's crazy! The IMAX in 3D was pretty cool. I enjoyed the movie and cannot wait of course for the last two. I ended up watching Transformers online and it was okay. I wasn't necessarily all about it because of how confusing the transformation was in that it looked like a bunch of noisy graphics, but the action was great. I'm just glad that we watched Harry Potter instead.

I'm about to embark on my next trip that is basically a rinse and repeat each week. I can't wait to fly to the Bahamas, but it does stink that we don't have an overnight there. I haven't met my captain for this line yet, but I've already heard that he's a good guy. My flight attendant is awesome because at least, he and I get to hang out and grab some dinner / beers. Tulsa was fun and I'm sure that the next few overnights will be fun too!

On the way to San Diego, I met a newly promoted Captain at ASA who moved from Dallas to Salt Lake to LAX and now he's back in ATL flying the ATR. It's always nice to sit with another ASA guy when commuting. It's nice to make new friends who share a commonality and it'll be nice to actually hang out while were in San Diego. I also watched Premonition on the way to San Diego and it was alright. It's funny how many movies I'm actually watching now that I'm commuting. I should definitely be studying or something for the test that I want to take, but right now I can't fathom doing it right now. I need to prepare or something mentally, but the motivation isn't all there. Soon though...

updating + time

I've been just really up to no good lately. I've gotten lazy and after I get to the hotel at the various places that I go, I'm just tired. I'll try to better again in July and keep it more up to-date. I'm not sure if you have been following along but I'm activated the "twitter" feature and usually you can find the latest short ramblings to the right of the main title of the blog. It's meant to be short and sometimes I'm just that lazy to type anything out so I just use my phone. It's actually really nice.

I've also update my pilotcrossings profile with my full July schedule. (it's easy to look at my schedule as long as you sign up for it. It's free for everyone and its actually really cool. I'm blocked to fly approximately 96.06 hours!!! It's going to be a crazy month but I guess that I should get with the program and accumulate more hours rather than sitting on my ass. I get to fly to Freeport, Bahamas next month but its not an overnight. It should prove though to be a lot of fun. I can't wait. I'm doing the same trip for 3 weeks in July and I'm also planning to go to Anchorage to visit one of my buddies from CAPT. Should be fun and I hope that the loads work out!

My friend Bobby is finishing up his Doctor of Osteopathy degree and studying for his boards on July 22nd. I was able to catch up with him and he even showed me a thing or two. It's awesome how I'm at the age where my friends are now professionals. I still have a way to go till I get upgraded, but maybe once I'm there, I'll feel like I'm somewhat on par.

I haven't gone shopping in a while but there were some awesome sales at Ruehl, Abercrombie and Hollister so I had to buy a few shirts. I've been watching movies like crazy lately with Adelle. We were able to catch up with some of the latest and greatest such as Spiderman 3 on IMAX, Shrek 3, Pirates of the Carribean part 3, Oceans 13 (wow that's a lot of sequels eh?), and Knocked Up. The most fun was probably the last one but they were all somewhat entertaining. The most disappointing of the batch was probably Shrek the Third. They should stop probably with this one.

The iPhone is coming out and I'm not as excited for it as much as I am for the new Sprint Mogul phone. It can do just about everything but just has a smaller screen and runs Windows Mobile 6. There are a lot of limitation with the iPhone but I'm sure that when Apple can release different models on other carriers, I'll start to garner a little more interest on it. I'm probably going to call Sprint though and see what kind of deal I can get by staying with them. If not, then hey, I'll go grab the iPhone!

Padres are doing alright and we were first for a while, but once again, the hard division that we are in is just getting the best of us. I hope that it ends well though which I'm sure it will!

I'm checking out the Otterbox right now and am tempted to grab it for my iPod video. I'm into swimming more so right now as it is less intense than running on my joints. I just feel like doing it with some tunes in my ear. We'll see how the headphone set works with it too! I'll do a review or something of the set once I get them. Alright, that's enough right now. I'll post more later. CYA!

I was home this past weekday to celebrate my mom and girlfriend's birthday. I didn't get to do anything with my mom, but Adelle and I went to Sea World and just hung out. It was good times!

to enjoy good food...

Once again I was able to enjoy the awesomeness of what is Sam Woo BBQ at Ranch 99 in Clairemont Mesa. Spicy Salted Pork Chop, Garlic Baby Bok Choy, House Special Chow Mein, and Walnut Shrimp...that is the meal that just works every single time. Especially when you eat it with some good friends. It definitely sucked that is was raining here in San Diego this trip around, but it really wasn't that bad at all.

Adelle and I watched a movie today called "Because I Said So." It was good entertainment. We then went to Barnes and Nobles for some good studying time. I read what was required to get ready or my next 3-4 Sim Sessions which brings me to the end of training. I can't say that I'm totally ready as I have a lot more to study before my oral exam. I hate how I have to read things over and over again. It takes a while for me to remember things and to actually store them in my mind which stinks, but I'll get it sooner or later. I'm definitely going to use tomorrow's plane ride to study. I just hope that I'm able to get on one of the morning flights back to Atlanta.

I'm not sure if you guys noticed or anything that but I've added a link to my friend Eric Christiansen's Blog as well as another feature that contains some news articles that I've elected to "share." I've been using Google Reader for quite a while now and I'm loving it. It seems to lessen the time that I spend reading different websites individually and just condenses everything into one continuous read. It's nice and I've never been into RSS Feeds until Google finally updated their version. I was using Mozilla's Thunderbird for a bit, but this is nice. Now, I just need a page with all my bookmarks so that I can retrieve them wherever I am.

In other news, the Chargers seem to be stacking up on coaches with the hiring of Norv Turner, who in turn named long-time NFL assistant Ted Cottrell the team’s defensive coordinator. We also picked up Ron Rivera from the Chicago Bears to be our Linebacker coach. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of new plays this new all star staff will come up with. I'm still a little disappointed on the decision that the Chargers made, but we have to look forward from here. Who are we going to pick up in the 1st round?

...is coming!!!

After almost 17 years, the final draft of the Fourth Indiana Jones Movie is complete and will start filming this year with the 64 year old Harrison Ford. It's going to be AWESOME!!! I hope that they don't spice it up too much with all of today's new CG, Graphic enhancing techniques, but I'm sure that it will be good! Last Crusade was awesome and that's definitely going to be a tough one to beat.

Adelle and I watched The Good Shepard last night and the cinematography was amazing and just short of brilliant. I liked it a lot but probably need to watch it again because of the little cues all over the place. Go out and watch it!
