A New Phone for Sprint

Sprint Motorola Q2Christmas has arrived early this year with the recent offering of the Motorola Q2 also known as the Motorola Q9m) available today on Sprint's Network.  Too bad the marketing ad is off to a bad start depicting the device using Palm OS Garnet while listing under specifications that it runs Windows Mobile 6.  So, if you were worried that you would have to use a 5 year old operating system, don't fret because Windows Mobile 6 on the Motorola Q2 can be yours for only $149.99

Heffalump

Well, because of me throwing out my back on the way to my aircraft on Thursday morning, I ended up calling in sick and went to the Urgent Care center to see what's going on.  I had acupuncture for the first time and I can't say that I was totally thrilled with it at all.  More or less, a proper nights rest with some drugs prescribed from the doctor helped me out.  I got some muscle relaxors, pain killers and anti-inflammatory meds.  So, since then, I'm back to about 60%, still not all good because I'm starting to feel the pains again since I'm laying off the meds, but its fun playing Call of Duty 4 as much as I have been.  I'm about to beat and I think that I'll do tonight.  I can't believe that Medal of Honor: Airborne is coming out in a couple of weeks.  What a waste of more money on First Person Shooters.  I don't think that I have any other types of games besides FPS.  I need Final Fantasy XIII to come out already.

I still haven't finished my website changes, but so far I'm feeling content with the way that it has been looking and moving.  I'm still wondering how to get Windows Live Writer to publish instantly onto my WordPress blog because it usually makes it so that it becomes a future posting (5 hours later).  Anyone have any ideas?

Sprint's Future Not Clear at all

Sprints announcement at the beginning of the year to rollout Wi-Max technology and finance Clearwire's joint network venture is all coming to an end.  It was too good to be true after Gary Forsee, Sprint's CEO, resigned a couple weeks back as it was his baby and apparently a bastard at that.  Not having the confidence of the board alongside his idea of rolling out the first 4G network has brought down what many thought would be the wave of the future in wireless broadband computing.  Clearwire's future also seems to be more in the red after reporting a quarterly loss of $119.8 million (4 x its loss last year, same quarter).  So, if you've been waiting to buy a Wi-Max enabled phone on Sprint's network, you might as well hang on to your EV-DO rev.a for a while longer because who knows what the cellular phone companies are going to end up with as a replacement to day's 3G network.

How Convenient is the Title

I woke up early feeling rested and headed out noticing that frost was covering my entire car and that I was going to be pushing my duty in time.  I had to call scheduling twice today, one to check me in because since the shuttle was 5 minutes late, I was late 1 minute and then two is where the story of how my day went begins.  To sum it up, I had 6 needles poked into me which ended up costing me $80.00, I'm taking Ibuprofen 600mg, NorFlex and Hydrocodine which totaled $45.00 at Rite-Aid and now I'm trying to sit up straight and just concentrate on killing noobs on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.  Minus the last bit, I've been in pain all day long.  Not only did I have to cancel my 4 day so that I could rest up at home, but I collapsed in front of a few fellow employees in operations hallway.  I was barely able to hang onto my luggage bag where another pilot helped me up.  I wasn't really embarrassed at all, but it just sucks that my back spasmed like a piece of cold bacon on a hot frying pan.  This left me a little handicap for the rest of the day (I still am).  I've been walking like an old China man, hunched over, and can barely get around without anyone helping me.

I ended up waiting for a Chief Pilot to show up to work where I had him call scheduling because they wanted verification.  I was sweating so bad that the Chief Pilot knew that I wasn't joking.  He gave scheduling confirmation that my pain was real and that was it.  It still hurts and it doesn't seem like the meds are helping that much.  I'm sure they are in some way, but the pain is definitely still there.  Matty P and Manoj picked me up at the airport and Manoj basically stuck with me the entire day throughout the doctor ordeal, grabbing the Rx, and going to Everybody's for some pizza sandwiches.  Good stuff!

I made some changes in the way that my two sidebars are organized and I've also re-inserted my Google Reader's Shard items.  I still have yet to include a link to my schedule, but I will soon if not in the 10 minutes.  Be sure to check it out!

Testing Windows Live Writer 1.0 (just newly out of beta)

Well, this is the first time I'm going to try to use an offline blog writer and I happen to choose the new Windows Live Writer.  I'm doing this because the past experience that I have had with trying to cut and paste text from Microsoft Word 2007 onto an HTML text area produces unknown XHTML characters and I just felt that I could actively write while offline like for instance when I'm commuting back and forth from San Diego to Atlanta and back.  Let's just see how this works out.  (it didn't with blogger)

Gaming consoles and their owners

I just found a "fun" article on kotaku.com who linked back to MSN Dating & Personals. It basically takes the three of the latest generation consoles (PS3, Wii, Xbox360) and categorizes their owners' personalities. It's almost spot on too! The Wii description is funny but I decided just to clip the excerpt from the PS3 component:

Q: What does a PlayStation reveal about a dude?

Arinoldo: The PlayStation 3 may indicate that the user is any "early-adopter," someone who likes to be the first on the block to have things. Owning the PS3 may also send the message that the person may have deep pockets.

Owen: This is your 21st-century individual who enjoys gaming and demands the best out of his experience--and probably his women. The PS3 guy enjoys life to its fullest. He is sophisticated, intelligent, enjoys competition and is willing to wait for a good thing. He is loyal as well.

Satterfield: This guy is in the know. He knows the right people, goes to the best restaurants and doesn't wait in line to get into the club. This guy will be difficult to keep up with, as he is always working. When he's not, he uses videogames as a chance to unwind and relax.

I guess that I can say that I'm glad I got a PS3! There's also a new firmware [official press release] which was just launched today dubbed 2.00 (November 8, 2007) which isn't that *boom* It's really disappointing that the Personal Video Recording feature hasn't been included just yet. It seems like PS3 and their Blu-Ray has a lot of catching up to do especially with this past weekends Toshiba $100 HD-DVD player blowout by Best Buy and Wal-Mart putting out 90,000 more proud owners and supporters out there.

IT IS DONE!!!

Sorry to change things up again, but "the battle" is going to be no longer. I'll be porting all my stuff to wordpress and leaving blogger.com for something that takes a little more effort on my part in terms of programming, so that I can actually be a lot more motivated. You can head over there now by clicking www.elijahnicolas.com or just going directly to www.elijahnicolas.com/wp

That's all for now!!! I'll be updating that website from now on. please leave some comments there

Just checked...

I didn't notice that my other blog "the battle" was still online but now I have sent all redirects to here:  www.elijahnicolas.com/wp  I think that it might just stay this way for quite a while, maybe a dynamic picture uptop or something, but we'll see.  I remember doing that for my Luxembourg blog a while back so making this one will be a little of the same deal.  Maybe just random collages or something. Well, today was another day of nothing-ness.  Woke up early around 9:00AM and since then I've been catching up on my shows, playing a little more Call of Duty 4 and that's it!  Call of Duty has been a lot of fun but I still really wish that we could all play online together.  Oh well, hopefully in the next patch or something.

I ate a can of Soup, the one with the red label along with some popcorn for a lunch and for breakfast, I had the usual Eggo Waffles with topped with maple syrup and light butter spread.  I also had some blueberry oatmeal that my roommate left me and I was actually kind of impressed.  It was quite tastier than the usual brown sugar flavored oatmeal that I have.

I think that I'm going to try to expand a little bit today with the links to my schedule again and go from there.  I still don't know if I want all the sidebars and stuff because they really don't contain any useful information.

Hello world!

As the title states..."Hello world!" I'm just starting to really get back into really making my digital life feel like its worth something. I really haven't been satisfied or impressed with anything that I've been doing in the virtual world and decided to take it to another level. I've decided to migrate from Google's Blogger (after 8 years) to Wordpress. I've always been hesitant because it seemed like it required a lot of programming and customization variables. So, because of all the down time I have in hotel rooms during my long 4 day trips, I might as well get on with this and make it something worth while. I'm still going to be keeping up my blogging as much as I can and the links to my schedules, but it'll be a while before 1.0 is out. I'll make this post the first of .01 alpha release. (yes I'm a geek)

I decided to not sleep after my continuous on-duty trip to Jacksonville, North Carolina. For those who don't know what a COD is, it means, that I end up getting usually less than adequate sleep / rest at the away station. For instance, last night, I got about 5 hours total sleep but this is the way the trip is setup. It makes it so that you are on the duty clock the entire time you are on the ground and this makes it legal. So, I left my crashpad at 1900 yesterday, arrived at the airport around 1955, got on my plane and took off around 2053 heading for Jacksonville, North Carolina. We landed at 2222, got to the hotel around 2250 (23 minutes shuttle ride), and I went right to sleep. I woke up at 0500, got dressed, left the hotel at 0600, made it to the airport at 0630, took off at 0658, landed back in Atlanta at 0834, went to ops to fill out some paperwork, got on the shuttle and went home back to the crashpad. I haven't slept since.

In case you are asking what I've been doing since I got home after having a reduced night's sleep, I've been playing Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare on PS3 and rethinking my website!!! I was able to pick it up yesterday and its just been non-stop action. It stinks that in comparison to Warhawk, we can't play multiplayer local online --> 4 of us at home on one PS3 with the rest of the world online. Hopefully there's a patch out soon to enable this because it kicks Halo 3's ass!!!

can't decide...

Well, so far, I've been quite disappointed with my blog and its layout. I'm even really juts disappointed with my website overall!!! I think that I'm going to end up killing it all... Not just a template thing, but I mean, I'm really just going to start over the entire thing. Why you might ask? I'm just tired of repetition. In with the new for 2008 is what I'm going for! Maybe I'll make the switch to wordpress, but I really don't know how to that stuff anymore.
